Umananda Temple Guwahati is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, it is located in an Island called Peacock Island, which is in the center of the Bramhaputra river. Country ships take the devotees to this Island in order to worship Lord Shiva.
The history of the temple says that once when Shiva was in deep meditation karma deva interrupted Lord Shiva and then Shiva opened his third eye in anger and burnt Kaama deva into Bhasma hence this place is also known as Bhasmakuta.
