Thirukadaiyur Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to lord Shiva, it is located in Tamil Nadu, India. The history of the Thirukadaiyur Temple says that the name Thirukadaiyur was derived from a pot caleed Gatham in Tamil, during the Samudra Manthana Lord Vishnu, Indira wanted a safe place to consume a amrutha, but the devathas forgot to worship lord Ganesha (who is to be worshipped before undertaking any good things), then Lord Ganesha who was offended by this took the pot which was filled with amrutha and then hid it in the Thirukadaiyur, then Lord Ganesha created a Shiva Lingam dedicated to his parents Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi and poured some amrutha on this Lingam hence the Lord in Thirukadaiyur is also called as Amruthghateshwarar.
