Sri Vadakkumnathan Shiva Temple is hindu temple which is dedicated to lord Shiva. The temple is located in the city of Thrissur, Kerala, India. The Sri Vadakkumnathan Shiva Temple is an ancient hindu tempe which resimbles the classic example of the architectural style of kerala.
The temple as has mural paintings depicting various morals of Mahabharata.
Their are various stories origined to Vadakkunnathan Shiva Temple which is briefly narrated in Brahmanda Purana. There are several references to it in some other works also. Their are several accounts under the temple namely, that the temple was founded by Parashurama sir. Sir Parashurama exterminated Kshatriyas for twenty one times. In order to cleanse himself from all these accounts and to balance his karma which he performed a yajna at the end. Only hindus are allowed inside the temple,their is a perticular dress code to be maintained inside the temple.
