Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple Srirangapatna is a famous Hindu Temple near mandya District Karnataka. The temple is dedicated to Lord Sri Ranganathaswamy (Magnificent Lord Vishnu). The Lord Ranganathaswamy is called as Adi Ranga (first Ranga) because this is the first temple starting from upstream. Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple Srirangapatna is is located in island of river Kaveri. The name Srirangapata is named after the Lord Ranganathaswamy. Sri Ranga is the name of the God and Patna means City so it is called SriRangaPatna(City of Lord Ranga).

The local chief called Tirumalaiah, a vassal of the Western Ganga dynasty constructed the Temple in 984 A.D. The King Vishnuvardhana of Hoysala empire granted the village Srirangapatna to Vishnavas saint Ramanujacharya as an agraharam(a city of Learning). The Temple Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple Srirangapatna is constructed in the form of Vijayanagara Architectures.

The famous Festivals in Srirangapata are Kotarothsava, Budhha Purnima, Dursehra, Diwali or Deepavali. Here Katarothsava is on of the famous festival because there is a Chariot Procession of Lord Ranganathaswamy Idol.
