Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple Dharmapuri on the southern banks of the River Godavari. In the Karimnagar district, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple Dharmapuri is one of the most famous religious shrines. One of the nine Narasimha Khetrams Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temple is the ancient Telangana temple is located in Dharmapuri town. Dharmapuri is known as “Dakshin Kasi” or the Benaras of the South also owing to the presence of a large number of temples in the area. ‘Teertharajamu’is another name for Dharmapuri. King Dharma Varma ruled Dharmapuri Village and thus the name of the village is of the name of the King. Temple existed before 850-928 BC as it is believed.

As the Pata Narasimha Swamy Temple is the older name and Kottha Narasimha Swamy temple is the newer one is called. With the support of Aurangzeb the then Sultan of Delhi, the Rustumdil Khan, Subedar of Hyderabad converted the temple to a Mosque. However, the temple was once again reconstructed in 1448 and this came to be known as the Pata Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple.
