Also known as the Kalabhairaveshwara Swamy temple, Adichunchanagiri. The temple is situated at a height of 3,300 ft in Karnataka in the Adichunchanagiri hills of Mandya district. It’s surrounded by dense forest where we can see free-roaming peacocks. It’s called Mayuravana as well. The god worshipped here is Lord Gangadhareshwara. The hills appear as the moon crested Shiva at the time of the moonrise.

It is one of the old temples whose history has been going on for about 2000 years. Here was founded the ancient Vedic culture. The explanation for spirituality here is all the Yagnas and prayers along with natural resonance. Adirudra gave this temple to Siddha yogi according to some transcriptions. Now the present head is Sri Sri Sri Nirmalanandanantha Swamiji after the long transfer of power. He’s this mutt’s 72nd hand.

Sri Kalabhyraveshwaraswamy Temple: The majestic complex-like temple is built at the cost of 60 crores of rupees at Sri Kshetra Adichunchanagiri where all traditional values are taught. This ancient monastery headquarters is essentially a dynamic complex with vibrant images of Kalabhyrava, Stambambike, Asthabhyravas, Asthasthabhyravas with Lord Ganesha and Lord Subrahmanya.

According to legend, it is believed that two demons Chuncha and kancha were killed here by Lord Shiva. He gave the place to Siddha yogi after that, who founded a tradition of Natha. Shiva also instructed him to spread society’s righteousness.

It’s not very hard to reach this temple at all. We have an international airport in Bangalore about 130 km from the temple. To get here, we can take a taxi or a taxi. There are also direct trains from Bangalore, which will take just 2 hours. It will be more comfortable to travel by train. It is also possible to reach the destination via National Highway 48 (Bangalore to Mysore Highway).

This enchanting temple is surrounded by a high granite-well sculpted wall that gives a quality comparable to a fortress. The sanctum of Lord Kalabhyrava has a majestic monolithic temple, 35 feet above ground level. It originally consisted of the sanctum,’ Sanctorum’ or’ Garbha Gruha’ built with a finely sculpted design on a high plinth. One can see the guards of heaven, i.e. Dwarapalakas at the Sanctorum’s very entrance. Temple’s Circumambulatory passage is well distributed.

The temple has an 18-feet width and a total 21-feet height. It is made up of 128 pillars with well-sculpted panels depicting various deities and their divine vehicles. Multiple layers of this temple complex reflect the mind’s energy, will power, and His Holiness ‘ indomitable spirit.
