Chikkonathaswamy Temple is the oldest Hindu temple in Bangalore. Dedicated to Chokkanathaswamy (Lord Vishnu), built during the reign of Chola dynasty. The Temple stands on a high base and there are several notable sculptures. One of the pillars, devotees can see Vishnu’s Dashavatharas etched beautifully. The Temple has been renovated several times in the few decades.
This temple was built during the Chola dynasty on 10th century AD. The walls of the temple are in Dravidian style, it is named diety as Chokkaperumal. Along with the consorts Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi of Saligrama Shila.
