Shree Swaminarayan Mandir , which is located in Ahmedabad in a samell area called Kalupur. It is known as the first temple of Swaminarayan’s sampraday. The Swaminarayan sampraday is divided into 2 types(seats) that is NarNarayan gadi and laxmiNarayan gadi, Shree Swaminarayan Mandir is the headquarters of the 1st gadi called NarNaryan gadi. Shree Swaminarayan Mandir consists of Yellow and Green sculpters of Hindu god and Goddesses their bodies covered in Rich dresses like in 19th century temples.
Swaminarayan temple attracts thousands of people by its bright colors and rich and abundant carvings. History of Swaminarayan Mandir says that the land or the place for construction of Shree Swaminarayan Mandir was given by the British officer. An British officer called Dunlop was impressed with the activities of Bhagwan Swaminarayan and his followers and on that behalf he gave land for this temple. though Dunlop was a British officer he was so much impressed by the architecture of this temple and gave a gun salute to it.
The architecture of Shree Swaminarayan Mandir mainly consists of Central Gateway, Narnarayan Temple, Akshar Bhawan, Rang Mohal, Temple for women and Haveli (North and East). Photography is strictly prohibited inside the temple.
Shree Swaminarayan temple will be opened from 5:00am to 9:00pm
