Shree Kanteshwara Temple, Nanjanagud is  hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Temple is located in the town of Nanjangud, Karnataka state, India. Lord Shree Kanteshwara is also named as Nanjundeshwara in the locality. The temple relies on the bank of river Kapila, which is the tribute of river Kaveri. Nanjangud Temple is also known as Dakshina Kashi  in the south.

Shree Kanteshwara Temple,Nanjanagud is famous for the history of god who drank the poison. Thus the Shree Kanteshwara Temple got the name Nanjangud Temple. The famous ritual named Dodda Jaathre festival is held at Nanjangud temple which brings out thousands of devotees. The festivities performed at the temple in the fair includes five colorful chariots . which attracts the devoties to make the  path for joining  ratha beedi.

Over the  water and the soil around bank of the  river Kaveri(Kapila)of are basically believed to possess properties. And thus the temple is also worshiped as  bhavaroga vaidya from the ancient times. Were “Tippu Sultan” called him Hakim Nanjunda. He gifted an Linga and a very valuable necklace for beeing cured his favourite elephant of an eye disease in Shree Kanteshwara Temple, Nanjanagud.
