History and About:

Mumba Devi Temple is an ancient oldest and famous temple located at Bhuleshwara in Mumbai, Maharashtra. This is a Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Mumbadevi. The Mumba Devi temple built in honor of the goddess Mumbadevi and the devotees have great respect and consider her as their guardian. Mumba Devi temple was first constructed in 1657 in Bori Bunder, Mumbai. The temple was later demolished and rebuilt in the year 1737 at Zaveri Bazaar, Bhuleswar. The city name Mumbai is derived from the goddess Mumba Devi. Goddess Mumbadevi is identified as ‘ Shakti Goddess ‘ or Power Goddess.  Mumba Devi Temple Mumbai is a sacred spot, around 23 km far from the downtown area of Mumbai. This may be a significant representation of the Mother Earth.  Devi Mumba worshiped with nice devotion by the fisher people referred to as Koli. The present name of the city of Mumbai is derived from the Goddess Mumbadevi.

Architecture:

The design of  Mumba Devi Temple is a wonderful view for anyone visiting this temple in Mumbai. The present shrine contains a picture of the goddess Mumbadevi dressed in a silver-crowned robe, a nose stud, and a golden necklace. Apart from the image of the goddess Mumba Devi, there are also idols of Ganesh Indra and Hanuman in the Mumba Devi Temple. On the left is an Annapurna statue sitting on a peacock. There’s a tiger in front of the shrine, the goddess carrier.

Chowpatty beach, Bandra a world sea link, Elephant caves, Chhota Kashmir park, Juhu beach, and Mahalakshmi temple are the places located in Bhuleswara which tourist can visit nearby. It is a narrow road lined with shops displaying a range of Hindu-religious items- bracelets, chains, rudraksha Malas, rings, and pictures.

Daily Pooja Seva:

There are shops outside Mumba Devi temple that offer roses, garlands and other stuff that are required to offer ‘ puja. Some products are jasmine, lotuses and orange marigolds, which her fans consider to be favorable and extremely lucky.
