Kattil Mekkathil Temple is one of the famous Hindu temple located near Chavara in Kollam district, in Kerala. The temple is dedicated to goddess Bhadrakali worshiped here is Ugra murti. On One side of the Kattil Mekkathil temple, there is the Arabian sea. The temple is located at a distance of 22 km from Kollam city.
The thousands of devotees all over the country come to the tree to tie the sacred bells given from the temple. Bhadrakali is the popular form of Devi worshipped in Kerala as Sri Bhadrakali. The goddess with three eyes and four, twelve hands. The devotees believed that the wish will be fulfilled.
The temple holds a “12 Vilakku Utsavam”, a festival lasting 12 days during which time devotees live on the temple. The temple is opened for seven days of the week. The Special pujas and rituals like Shatrusamhara Pushpanjali are performed on Friday.
