The Karmanghat Hanuman Temple is a very famous temple on the manner to Sagar highway in Karmanghat. This temple, devoted to the Pawan Putra Hanuman, Lord Shri Ram’s biggest devotee, is one of the state capital’s oldest shrines, Hyderabad.
This renowned temple was built in the 12th century A.D. in Karmanghat. According to the legend, when a Kakatiya ruler who had been hunting in the forest for some moment felt tired and sat down under a tree to rest. While resting, the king heard someone singing Lord Rama’s name, the king became interested and went around attempting to figure out who it was, and as he walked deeper into the forest, he found Lord Hanuman’s idol. The stone idol was sitting and the voice came from inside the Vigraham. The modest king returned to his capital after paying his respects, and Lord Hanuman appeared in his dream that very night and requested the king to build a temple.
The Karmanghat Temple was immediately built and it was well ruled by the successor Kakatiya dynasty kings. Around 400 years later, Aurangzeb instructed his armies to destroy all Hindus shrines at every corner of the nation. The mighty armies of Aurangazeb could not even enter close the compound wall at this temple. Aurangzeb himself came thereafter learning this to wipe the temple with a crowbar in his hand. He heard a deafening roar rumbling when he reached the temple premises and the tool slipped out of his fingers as he was overwhelmed by fear. Then he heard a thundering voice from the sky saying Mandir Todna hai raja, kar man ghat, “which implies, oh king, if you want to destroy this temple, then make your heart strong. The place was named after the voice from the sky, kar-man-ghat. And to this day, as Dhyana Anjaneya Swamy, the primary deity Lord Anjaneya sits quietly meditating in the temple and bestows his blessing upon his devotees.
