Temple overview

Chhatarpur Temple was established in 1974, by Shri Durga Charanuragi Baba Sant Nagpal Ji. Chhatarpur Temple is located in the south of Delhi – Chattarpur and is about 4 Km from Qutb Minar on Mehrauli Gurgaon road. This is the second-largest temple of India, only after Akshardham Temple in Delhi. The entire temple complex spread over 70 acres, has over 20 small and large temples divided into three different complexes. Gates of Temple are open all days for the darshan of Maha Gauri. But ‘darshan’ of Goddess Katyayani can be availed only on ‘Ashtami’ of every month. During Navratri, the gates of the Goddess Katyayani are opened for the general public. At the main entrance, there is an ancient Vat Tree that is covered with holy threads. The structure of this temple gives the tint of the South Indian style of architecture. Spread over a large area of land, Chhatarpur Mandir encompasses many structures that are made for different activities. In the field of education, the Saktipeeth runs Shivani Vidya Niketan, cutting, tailoring and embroidery training center, Aanganwadi (creche), Shree Sant Nagpal Sanskrit College and Research Center (gurukul) and Shree Sant Nagpal Vocational Training Center, the Sant Nagpal Diagnostic Center is also run by the Shaktipeeth. The entire temple complex is spread over 60 acres and has over 20 small and large temples divided into three different complexes. Mahashivratri is celebrated every year in the temple on the 14th day of the Hindu month of Fagun (February-March). According to Hindu mythology, this day is the marriage day of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvathi.
