Badrinath Temple is one of the most famous temples in India. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu which is situated in Badrinath, Uttarakhand, India. The temple is also one of the 108 Divya Desams dedicated to Vishnu which is mentioned in the book of alvars. Between the end of April and the beginning of November, it is open for about six months every year. The reason for only six months is the extreme weather conditions in the Himalayan region. The temple is situated in Garhwal hill tracks in the Chamoli district along the banks of Alaknanda River. It is renowned to be one of the most visited pilgrimage centers in India. it has the highest record of 1,060,000 visitors.
There is no Historical information about this temple but according to Hindu legend, god Vishnu performed his
meditation at this place, who was unaware of the cold weather. In that condition, Goddess Lakshmi protected him in the form of a Badri tree which is in normal words, Indian date. Lord Vishnu was pleased by the devotion of Lakshmi, hence he named the place Badrika Ashram.
